Municipio Autónomo de San Juan – Website institucional del Municipio de San Juan de Puerto Rico

Casa Cuna de San Juan is the first home in Puerto Rico administered by a municipal government, for children that have been mistreated, abused or turned over voluntary. It is a home with institutional and adoption agency license, authorized by the Puerto Rico Department of the Family.

The program is assigned to the Office for Women Integral Development (ODIM, Spanish acronym), administrative unit of the Municipality of San Juan. Casa Cuna de San Juan is an alternative temporary shelter for those minors, from birth to three (3) years of age, who have suffered abuse and/or have been turned over voluntarily, so that they live in a safe environment where they receive love attention and respect, until they are located in a permanent home.

Casa Cuna de San Juan has the mission of providing a transitional home for abused or voluntarily surrendered children from birth to three (3) years of age, ensuring their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. The project’s vision is to promote the welfare and improve the quality of life of these children in a secure environment, to care for them with the necessary stimulus that will enable them to reach their full emotional, cognitive, social, and motor development. In addition, we promote the integration of these boys and girls to a permanent home that provides continuity to their developmental process and in which their dignity as human beings is recognized.
